Nicholas Lyndhurst is compared to Bond villain Blofeld

Nicholas Lyndhurst was the breakout star of the latest Frasier episode after leaving fans in hysterics with his bold outfit choice.

The Only Fools and Horses star, 62, plays Frasier’s old Oxford chum Alan Cornwall in the rebooted sitcom and has been praised by fans for his wit and comic timing.

Yet it was his peculiar choice of clothing that delighted viewers in the latest episode, which saw the return of fan favourite Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth).

The running gag of the episode was that Lilith could never remember Alan, despite his decades-long friendship with Frasier (Kelsey Grammar) with Alan deciding to wear the same white suit he had worn to their wedding as a ‘visual clue to help jog her memory.’

Yet Frasier was quick to mock the attire, comparing him to Bond villain Blofeld, Indiana Jones and Jack T. Colton by joking: ‘Good lord, what were you doing? Lowering someone into a pit of alligators? Trying to raid a lost ark, maybe romance a stone?’

Bit of all white: Nicholas Lyndhurst stole the show as he was compared to Colonel Sanders and Bond villain Blofeld (right) as he donned a  white suit and trilby for the Frasier reboot

Frasier’s son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) then quipped: ‘Surely you recognize the mayor of Key West’, to which Frasier replied: ‘No, no, he’s that chicken magnate from Kentucky.’

As Freddy then referred to Alan as ‘the simple country lawyer who doesn’t have a lot of fancy book learning but knows the good people of this parish’, Frasier quipped back: ‘Oh, Frederick, please, don’t insult the supervillain who squared off against James Bond at the Monte Carlo casino.’

Even Lilith got in the action, telling Alan: 더블유비씨247 ‘They’re just joking. I know who you are. So: go ahead and welcome us to Jurassic Park.’

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans were left in hysterics at the scene, writing: ‘I just laughed so hard at Alan in this suit  #Frasier’; ‘I absolutely enjoyed Frasier, Lilith, and Freddy shading Alan together as a little family Frasier’;

‘Managed to catch the latest episode of #Frasier. Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth effortlessly manage to recapture the chemistry they had in the old show. And Lilith not remembering Alan was my favorite running gag from the episode. Great stuff!’;

‘That was SUCH a good episode of Frasier today – nice to see Lilith given so much time and Alan (Nicholas Lyndhurst) is just phenomenal. #Frasier’.

Alan has become a main character in the Frasier reboot, while gone are Frasier’s brother Niles and his wife Daphne, as well as his father Martin, who recently passed away (actor John Mahoney died in 2018).

Instead, Frasier finds himself in Boston, back where it all started with Cheers.

Loving it: Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans were left in hysterics at the scene as they praised Nicholas for his ‘phenomenal’ performance

His career as a radio and TV shrink is behind him and he’s teaching at Harvard University. He’s also attempting to forge a closer relationship with his son Freddy.

Yet it soon transpires that Freddy had far more in common with his blue-collar grandfather Martin than he does with his own dad.
